How to write a Nano Banana prompt

  1. Say what the picture is first, then the setting, the light and the camera: “a portrait of the person from the photo, on a balcony at night, warm fairy lights, 85 mm”.
  2. When you edit a photo, say what stays: “keep the face, hairstyle and skin tone exactly as in the photo; only the outfit and the setting change”.
  3. With two photos, name them in order: “the man from the first photo and the woman from the second photo”.
  4. Put any text you want in the picture in quotes, and say where it goes. Nano Banana 2.1 spells it out.
  5. Ask for what you do not want too: “no text, no watermark, no extra people”.

FAQ

Is it free to use these prompts?

Copying a prompt is free. Making it here uses 40 credits for one Nano Banana 2.1 image at 1K, so the 100 credits you get when you sign up make 2. On monthly plans Starter pays 32 credits an image and Pro 20. Unlimited makes Nano Banana 2.1 images without using credits.

Can I use a Nano Banana prompt in Gemini or ChatGPT?

Yes. They are plain English, so they work in Gemini, where Nano Banana is the image model, and most of them in ChatGPT’s image tool too. The sample images were made with Nano Banana 2.1, so results there come closest.

How does a Nano Banana prompt keep my face the same?

Use a clear, front-facing photo of one person and keep the line that says the face, hairstyle and skin tone stay exactly as in the photo. Every photo prompt on this page already has it.

Can I put two people in one picture?

Yes, with a two-photo prompt: photo 1 and photo 2 each hold one person, and the prompt names them in that order. The card says which photo is who.

Which version of Nano Banana do you use?

Nano Banana 2.1, the newest one, at 1K by default (2K and 4K on the model page). Nano Banana Pro prompts work the same way.

Do I need an account?

Not to read or copy a prompt. To make it here, sign up for a free account: the card, the prompt and your photos are still there when you come back.
